What is a Foodie Feed?
It's a place where you can easily see the latest posts on Food Blog sites. The sites with the newest posts are shown first, and you can click the link to open a new window that will display that food blog post. It's quite easy to use -- just view the page, and click on the link you want. Since a new window (or tab) is opened for each site, you can easily return back to FoodieFeeds to click on more food blog sites.
How does it work?
We use a customized process to look at the RSS feed of each participating food blog site. This process runs many times a day, and stores information about each food blog's latest entries in our database. When you view the main FoodieFeeds page, that information is quickly extracted from the database and displayed on the page. The food blogs with the most recent entries are displayed first, so you can easily see which ones that you would like to read. Just click on the link, and a new tab will display that selected food blog's latest post.
What's an RSS feed?
It's a specially formatted page on most web sites that contains the entries for that site. It's usually indicated by an orange graphic like this
or
. Most browsers let you 'subscribe' to an RSS feed. But if you want to 'follow' lots of sites, that means that you have to keep track of all of those sites. That's where FoodieFeeds comes in -- we keep track of all of the sites for you.
What if my site doesn't have an RSS feed?
Submit your site anyway. We will display a FoodieFeeds box for your site that will link to your main page.
If you want to add an RSS feed to your food blog site, do a web search for "Add RSS feed" to get started. Some blogging software (like WordPress, etc) have 'widgets' you can add to your site. There's probably a widget for your type of blog software.
If you need help, we suggest contacting CellarWeb . They can help with modifying your site, including adding RSS feeds, or even a whole site redesign.
How do I get a food blog on the FoodieFeeds list?
All you need to know is the site name, and the address (URL) of their RSS feed. You can easily get that by right-clicking the site's RSS icon, select "Copy Shortcut", then using our FoodieFeeds form to paste in that sites RSS feed address (the one you just copy).
Our form is really simple: the site's name, web address, their RSS feed address, and category (like "BBQ" or "Recipes" or whatever). Add your name and email address (which we promise to keep confidential), Submit the form, and you're done! We'll quickly verify the information, and add them to our list.
The whole process will take about a minute of your time. And we'll get the site on our list by the next day (probably a lot sooner).
What if a site is not right for FoodieFeeds?
We check all food site requests when we get them. And we monitor all the sites to ensure they are safe and relevant. If you think a site is not appropriate for FoodieFeeds, just use the comment form to let us know.
What about commercial food sites?
We define a commercial food site as one that only promotes a product or service, even if it is in a blog-type form. We are glad to include commercial sites as paid advertising. If you have a commercial site you would like to have on FoodieFeeds, contact us via the comment form.
I notice that some sites are "Featured" -- what does that mean?
Some site owners want to make their sites more visible. So they contract with FoodieFeeds to get their sites displayed on the "Featured" bar. We charge them a small fee for that display, by keeping track of the times those featured sites are displayed. We only display a few of the featured sites at a time, so they might be different each time you view the FoodieFeeds site.
How do I get my site to be Featured?
Just contact us via the "Contact Us" form. We'll send you all the details.
What about those ads down the right side of the screen?
Those are paid ads for food blog-related sites. We encourage you to visit those that you find interesting. We will keep the ads to a minimum and as non-intrusive as we can make them.
Can I get my ad displayed?
Sure. Just use the "Contact Us" form to get started.
How are ads displayed?
We use the CellarWebAds module to easily display ads. It randomly displays the ads according to a template that we define. And it does display and click tracking, and billing. It's quite easy to use, and free (although we did send a donation). You'll find more information about it here.
I have another question ...
Then we will find an answer that matches that question. Just use the "Contact Us" form. We'll respond as quickly as we can.
